istd typographers' calendar

Academic

The brief asked to study the notion of time in a designer’s -more specifically typographer’s- life. The final product was to be a calendar targeted to the typographers.
The study focused on the typographer’s emotional process in parallel with his work process. Based on interviews, questionnaires, research and personal experience, the calendar was divided into 4 stages; each represented by a visual in the form of a poster to be possibly hanged in the designer’s studio.
A cylindrical package was also designed to accomodate the rolled posters.
The phases represented the highs and lows in the designer’s emotional journey: the confusion, the despair, the satisfaction, the anxiety...
A symbolic figurative typographic treatment, clearly fusing arabic and latin script and incorporating a tricky calendar within, told the story of each phase.
Therefore, the calendar connects visually, emotionally and conceptually to the typographer.
